Well worth the effort Gormo Pity Metcalf didn't include the Quoins with the original kits, I would have made a big difference to most of thier earlier kits. Paul
Thank you peoples, A little edit here.......I have been calling Qouins....QOURNS.........Sorry about that......I stand corrected. It`s not a word I was actually familiar with and I got it wrong.........Oh well ......you guys know what I meant...... Apparently....Quorn is a meat substitute product available in the UK, Ireland, Australia etc. and it is also the name of a town in South Australia in the Flinders Ranges. Here is a picture of the lovely old station at Quorn which appears to have Quoins at the corners of the structure.........well there you go ....would you look at that?????? Tried Quorn, and Quoins probably taste better. Nevwer mind what there called yours are looking good. Paul
Hi Gormo, Congratulations on picture of the week. you have done an excellent job with the little people. the surrounding works are very convincingly done as well. The standard by which others will be benchmarked I think. the bar just gets higher. cheers toto
Thanks Toto & The Gang, I didn`t expect that......you caught me by surprise there. Thanks for the kind words. http://www.clickGormo

Ingenious use of the Metcalfe kit Gormo and nice 'corner bits' Congratulations on picture of the week, as well Ed
Thanks Ed, The Metcalfe is going to work out OK......but it takes ages to build it this way. I seem to be a lot slower than the other guys who can knock out two blocks of flats in an afternoon. I`ve got two more walls on the go and will post some pics up later. http://www.clickGormo
Hi Gormo congratulations on picture of the week very deserving. Ref Quorn; I was born 1 mile from the original village made famous for its fox hunt and patronaged by royalty from Henry V111 onward (hence Leicestershire know as the fox county and Leicester City FC called 'the foxes'). It's also the home of the Great Central Railway preservation line, the station being the Quorn & Woodhouse (where I was born). As for the taste substitute no thanks. Er... went on a bit then sorry... sigh need mi tinto.. Ian
Thanks Ian, Very interesting about Quorn. Your Quorn / birth place sounds very nice, however the meat substitute with the same name is not receiving any accolades from the lads on the forum. Enjoy your tintohttp://www.click Well folks some pics as mentioned in an earlier post. Two more walls......the Booking Office...althought the other wall still needs windows and a door. These walls have had their wrap around end walls removed to aid with papering but more importantly to get a nice crisp corner at the joins with the gabled buildings. The walls are not joined yet.....they are simply stood up for the photographs. Had to create some new sills this afternoon for the narrow windows with the narrow brick column in between. They are supposed to have a single sill. Here is a cruel close up of a single sill on a single window, which is straight forward enough when you get the hang of it. And here is the double. Had to do a removable section to go around the centre column of bricks whilst leaving a tiny ledge to sit in front of the column. This is the back wall of the Booking Hall just awaiting a door and some windows That`s it for today I`m afraid.........updates will follow as usual. http://www.clickGormo
Its coming on nicely Gormo, the close ups show well the difference between the two finishes, I know the paper is flat, but it looks 3 dimensional when in position, it is time consuming but the finish is worth it , I just wish John could design a 7mm range, I am certain it would sell well. (hint hint) . Pete.
Nice work Gormo The Quoins really do make a big differance to the look of the building more in keeping with the era Looking forward to the next instalment :
Thanks Guys, Yes Pete......7mm would be good .......I guess it would mean a re-design though to fit the parts on A4 paper. Have you tried scaling it up on your printer..????......I think it would mean taking two pages to print one???......then again maybe the quality will suffer if scaled up...........not sure on that.??? http://www.clickGormo
Hi Gormo, yes I have blown up the coal office to 7mm, it took 8 pages, if I could have printed it off on A3 it would have been better, I know that the design can be manipulated once downloaded to improve the fit onto A4, but I have no clue how to do it . Pete.
