    Hi everyone!

Don't faint - I know it's been ages since the last update but I finally have some progress to report.

Since my last update, I have been busy installing DCC chips in some of my UK locos and building a flatcar load to hide a bluetooth speaker for use on the Newcastle (Aust) club layout.

Today I managed to get the yard lights installed and a floor fitted to the blue pike stuff building. I have also carved and painted some hi density blue foam (the stuff they like in the US) to represent a couple of concrete buffer stops in the yard. As I write this I am waiting for the glue to dry on some paling fencing for the yard of the motorcycle garage. The next project is to get most of the ground cover and static grass done before wiring up all the lights.

I hope to have another update soon.

    Ian.

The heat was ridiculous today - I only went outside once to help Steve unload the groceries from the car and I was dripping with sweat after a couple of minutes. Thank goodness for the air conditioning.

The layout is looking good, it's coming together quite well.

I'd be really happy if Jack's layout looks half this good.

    Cheers, Gary.

    Hi again.

OMG! 2 updates in 2 days!

I put down some more ground foam today and thought I might as well install some of the interior lights while the glue was drying. I fitted the 2 story building with lights under the awning as well as inside and added 2 potentiometers to the roof to act as dimmers so the lights can be adjusted to look best under different lighting conditions. The freight house got the same treatment but it only has interior lighting. I plan to paint the pots dark grey/black to look like small chimneys. The glazing is next to be fitted - I'm planning on using perspex that has been stained with acetone so the windows look dirty and you can't see through them. I also fitted the fence around the yard of the motorcycle garage - I have decided to model this as a rundown abandoned building with some smashed windows and lots of overgrown junk in the yard.

The lights are on but is anyone home?

The fence is up but needs lots of weathering.

Back to work tomorrow but I hope to keep the momentum going now.

    Lighting Nice Ian
The pots as Chimney Pots :avatar: are a nice idea an active scenic element and hidden in plain sight:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

The fence on the bike shop yard would have a bit more character if the post and rail where on the rail line side wouldn't look flat just a suggestion and if building in real life would have most probably been constructed that way for safety with the rail line there elf N aftee on the work site.

PS congrats on the 2 posts in two days :giggle:

Thanks Chris. Good idea about the fence - it's not glued in so I can easily turn it around.

    Hi Everyone.

I managed to get some more scenery done after work today. As you will see from the attached pics, I turned the fence around as per Chris' suggestion and it looks much better. I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday this week and I hope to get the lights all wired up then.

All being well there should be another update around the middle of the week.

It's forecast to be 41°c here today so I plan to stay inside and wire up the street and yard lights. I feel an update coming on later :)

It's a warm night for us tonight as well, it a sweltering 5c after this mornings -3c.

If your temps get much warmer, you'll need to start and use higher melting point solders so the models wont fall apart.

Hope the aircon is set to max
