    Hi Ian that's looking good.
You have got that US red brick colouring looking nice the water tower gives the building even more statute just needs the Acme sign and a Road runner and Coyote and it will be perfect USofA :avatar:

You know you have got it right when the Train is just part of the scene  and that train car isn't the main interest point something that is really hard on a really small layout well done Ian:tophat:

PS did you get the loco that was calling you last week ??:giggle:

    Thanks Toto, Paul and Chris.

Chris - I haven't got the loco yet as funds are a bit tight right now - you never know what I might find at Thornleigh too.

All I can really say is, it wouldn't be a US layout without that water tank ! Buildings are looking good.

    Cheers, Gary.

Time for another update. Yesterday I glazed the windows in the left hand building and installed the lights. I painted the inside of the windows with acetone and rubbed brown weathering powder into them so they look dirty and you can't see inside. I'm quite pleased with the result so now I need to make a back wall and model the little bit of the interior that will be seen through the open loading doors.

    Hi Ian

    Comming along nicely.

I have found Humbrol Mate Cote or even PVA, also frosts the windows nicely.

    Hi everyone,

Well it's taken a month but I think I've got my modeling mojo back. The train room was in quite a mess but I tidied it up today and even ran a train or 2. I think I've worked out the best positions for uncoupling magnets so I'll spend the next few nights fitting them and testing it out. I hope to have some more modeling pics soon.

You need to buy that new loco you wanted.
Forget going to a show at the Theatre buy a loco It will make you feel Good every time you run it, whilst the show will only do it for you whilst your at the theatre.:faint::avatar::avatar::avatar:

    Hi Everybody! I'm back!

About a month ago I thought things were about to start happening on this layout again but it wasn't to be - I couldn't work out why, but I just lost motivation. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I was discussing the layout with my hubby and Steve came up with the answer - he thought the buildings were too big and made the layout feel cramped. It was then that I realised I had strayed too far from my original vision and needed to revisit the original plans. As a result, I decided smaller buildings were needed and that I should remove one end wall to open up interesting viewing angles.

The original plan had the left hand end open but I had since fitted all the wiring connections there so the right hand wall had to go - it will be replaced by a small teardrop shaped section that will have the faccia flowing around the corner to the backscene. A trip to Model Railroad Craftsman in Blacktown took care of the buildings with a couple of DPM and Pikestuff kits replacing the big mill and warehouse.

I have been busy building the new kits over the last couple of weeks and have finished the basic construction of them and I'm now ready to start painting.

Motorcycle garage (Pikestuff kit shortened in length and raised by 2 courses of bricks to look more in scale with DPM kits)

Mock of of silo next to team track (vitamin tablet bottle - there will be 2 of these when the shaped end board is finished)

View from the open end (I'm trying to make sure all sides are modeled properly as you can never tell where SMR Chris will take a photo from)

It feels good to have my modeling mojo back and I'm keen to keep moving on from here.

Thanks Gary. Time to clean up the work bench now and put all the plastic and kit parts away so I can get stuck into painting.

    Been MIA Ian

Great too see you back in action

Very different look to the layout
The back scene looks a little New England going to suit the smaller buildings
Going to have to do another video to replace the old one :thumbs::thumbs:

Thanks Chris. The backscene may change over time - that was just one that I downloaded to get an idea of how it will look.
