Hi Chris, The bridge abutments have turned out well. The landscaping blends in nicely. Good luck with the show. Cheers Toto
Some photos of Moonan Flats at the recent show. Moonan Flats received 2nd in the Layout Compertition just ahead of Gary's Indusrty lane 3rd with Over the fence getting the nod Video link http://youtu.be/Qx1xZaX4aGA Gary and I opted to be interactive with the crowd with no barricades so it's up close and personal 1903 did a sterling job all weekend handling the goods traffic it was place on the layout sat morning and didn't leave the rails until Monday as the last loco on the layout Shelley even did some operating on Monday arvo. As you can see by this photo over the top of the crowd some times you couldn't see the layout for all the people Friends Richard and Roy test running the layout before the show opened sat morning And this is the other layout I took to the show The Charging Moose one of the clubs I'm involved with NMRA manned the layout I did the maintance and repairs to keep the little Locos going when some one yelled it's stopped. They must have done a few miles over the weekend Brick pit 2016 show
So charging moose is yours. I did not realise that ......... Geeeeeesh. Well done young Sir. Both stunners. I like the sector plate. Paul and I were talking about those as an option for the O gauge modular layouts just the other night there. Yours looks nice and robust. Toto
Hi Chris How many clubs are you in????? Did you have anything to do with smugglers cove last year? Both that and charging moose were phenomenal. The quality of the modelling was Jaw dropping. Did they get banned from the award categories because they were that good? Cameron
In regards to awards, they are only giving to new layouts that have been built in the last 18 months (Since January 2015). Charging Moose and Smugglers Cove have been on the exhibition train for atleast 2-3 years now. Cheers, Gary.
Toto wrote: cmcan wrote: Re the Moose it's not my layout cared for by one of the groups I'm in, The NMRA And we have a small group of guys that keep it serviceable it's well over 10 years old. The Charging Moose was built by the Late Geoff Knott it is now cared for by the NMRA after his passing, and is looked after by a group of us it's getting quite old now and has done more shows than it should have done hopfully it is now retired to the home of a member (the Moose Wrangler) we set it back up during the week with a bit of luck it will now stay in his new garage and can be renovated once again. Re smugglers cove same builder Geoff Knott it is now under the care of the hills club in Sydney I'm not involved with The Smuglers group. Both layouts are actualy really poorly built the frames are full of add ons and each part is really just a standalone module but the setting of the Scene is really good and generally the viewing angle is all that is modelled a lot of the structures have no back or are very basic flat slab construction but the end effect is really pleasing to the eye and you only see the detail not what's not modelled. Re the sector plate yes it is strong I tested it by standing on it and Shelley tuned me around on it has a bearing rated at 350 kg and spins round so easy uses Tung and groove to make sure everything is alined OK at the three tracks Re how many Clubs/Groups/Associations 7
Train Night at Moonan Flats tonight So I thought I'd make up a time table to be run through To make the trains up and make it easier to know where the wagons need to be shunted to I made up some images with all the wagon on a plan of Moonan Flats should make for some interesting operations the timetable refers to the Train order sheets. The base diagram looks like this I have labeled each one and they are laminated together as a 2 sided sheet labeled Train-order #1-4. Attached files
It's been quiet at Moonan Flats for a little while but this Friday night sees an opperating session with some of the local group If anyone from Platform 1 wants to visit on the Central Coast give me a PM we start at 7pm Friday night and run till late, squishy's about 9:30 and train videos rolling for those not unlocking the shunting puzzle. Photo below A busy time in Moonan Flats with Locos on a running in turn up the steep grades to the Flats having a crew break before heading back to Broadmeadow round house. In the main platform a 48 class and 2 49 class, whilst in the bay waiting to finish shunting the pick up goods a 36 class 4-6-0 Attached files
Hi chris like the photo's. Thr little people looked very well painted. The timber edged platforms are a treat as well. nicely done toto
Thanks Toto The little people really finish off the Scene I have tried to set up the people in little cameo groups I guess you world call it there are no running men all the people are in a position that you would expect to find ie talking groups standing waiting but facing each other as if, In conversation etc man leaning on the broom or against a wall. Good quality little people they need to be in O scale and the wild life are the most expensive part of finishing off the scenic's on a layout, there's a locomotive worth of people on the layout and not a little IXION one either.
I'll bet. nothing cheap in this game if you are looking for quality and they are. Easy to make a mistake as well because as you say, you have to be thinking ahead to make sure they are in realistic poses. good when its done with thought. cheers toto
