I think its a Chitubox thing / feature or whatever

I exported (Save As) the print from Chitubox as an .stl file
Imported it into Anycubic Photon Workshop (V2.1.30.RC17), then sliced the models

    upload_2023-11-2_21-55-53.png

Estimated time of 26h15m10s, actually pretty damn close to what the printer is saying.
Looking forward to tomorrow afternoon, although it's forecast to be wet, if not very wet but 8C most of the night dropping to 7C at about 6am rising to a sweltering 9C for 10am when it will be persistantly raining. With this amount of rain, we daren't use water soluble resin, the model would just melt.

'I exported (Save As) the print from Chitubox as an .stl file'

How did you do that I can't find a 'save as' option in chitu.

    Hi Mossy

    Firstly a print update

    As of 08:45 - 6H22M to go

And is looking impressive, aw goan then i'll show you

    Shed temp 8C
    Print enclosure 12.5C
Resin temp in the backup bottles is 24C
Vat temp is 22-23C on the right hand side where the heater is and 19-20C on the left hand side
Any new resin is pumped into the Vat from the rear Lefthand side

May need to be putting some form of circulation pump to mix the resin - and would be useful for draining the vat. It takes a litre of resin to fill the vat to the auto fill stop level.
Which is a heavy and difficult beast to move and empty without spilling, but I have a cunning plan ...........

Now you're gonna have another of **** moment

    upload_2023-11-3_9-6-48.png

In Chitubox select the ||| buton cirgled above

Select Save As... and choose from All Models or Selected Model
A file manager box will appear for you to name and select the files destination

    Simples .........

    ok I've had a ******* moment.

Print is looking pretty impressive. I know how big this is going to be, but when I joined the test prints together, I still thought ****** it's big

On the plus side the resi has had plenty of time to drain from the build plate down.

I used auto placement of the supports - all being heavy supports, and surprised by the lack of supports placed on the edges of the print - only the bottom edge, the rest are supporting the clerestory, if all goes well then it should nedd minimal clean up.

I normally do auto placement medium supports for my roofs, but I also manually add a string of light supports along both edges, just inboard to minimise clean up.
I find waiting for a first print a bit like sitting waiting to hear your partner has given birth!

Using a half of the body, I pulled the same trick as you, supported using Chitu, saved as an .stl, then sliced using Photon Workshop.
Chitu reckoned 3hrs 18mins, workshop came up with 4hrs 26 mis. Which is pretty close to what I assumed it would take, so like you, Chitu can't count, workshop can, I just wish it's support mechanism was useable!

    Euston we have a problem
    - THEYRE TOO DAMN BIG FOR THE CURE STATION, and it won't work if the lids not in place

OK time to wind back a little

They're too big for the wash baths - got round it by removing the supports, then immersing half of the roof at a time in the wash baths.

Can't do the same for the cure station.

There is a couple of layer shifts, I'm wodering if I disturbed them when checking ealier, good news is they're sandable.

Digging out my first curer - a UV finger nail polish curer.

    And yes they are BIG

They are 52ft carriages so only 364mm plus a few mm what you whinging about! I had a similar 'it wont fit' when I tried cleaning up the body in the ultra sonic both, so like you half ain half out and then reverse it.

I also hit the same problem with my cure station. Having joined the 2 body halves using my dinky light pen, I decide to give it a 5 min bust in the cure station. I tried conning the safety label by putting the lid behind the m/c aligned with where I thought it should be, after 4 goes when all I got was that whinging noise when it isn't in the right place I gave up and decided to let it cure in the suns uv rays, if/when we ever get any sun, forecast for next March I think.

In all seriousness they look seriously good, so many, many thanks and good luck with the chassis.

    Started on the Chassis

    upload_2023-11-4_9-27-32.png

Boy are there more supports with it being a flat surface. Created in Chitubox, then exported as an .stl then imported into Photon Workshop
Sliced in both Chitubox and Photon Workshop for comparison..
In Photon Workshop I have turned Anti-alias on at 8 and Image Blur to 4 - recommended on several forums to remove layer lines, layer thickness is also at 0.046 (same size as the pixel size).

Chitubox results File size 438MB, Volume of resin 436.6ml, Est. Time 11h58m50s
Photon W/shop File size 1.5GB, Volume of resin 419.3ml, Est Time 25h11m45s

I am going to try the Photon Workshop version.

Got to warm up the printer and resin.

    Print started

3 min passed already - just turned off the exposure compensation

I'll give it a few hours to let the build plate clear the resin to check resin level.

    Paul,

I tried the support in chitubox, slice in photon workshop yesterday and it screwed up the print something chronic, if you have already started it will be obvious in 2/1 hours or so so I would check to make sure it ok.

I got the same - :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

Checked after 4 hours - raft printed, and that was all on the front, some supports printed on the rear model, but were peeling away spliting the raft.

Sliced two versions in Chitubox, one as per the roof settings, the other with Anti-alias x8 + Image blur x 4.

Will try the antialiased version and will check after a couple of hours

    OK start again

Exposure compensation still on Est Print Time 27h27m

Allowed first two layers to print then switched off Exposure compensation, Est Print Time is now 25h23m,

a bit different from the Chitu guess of 11h58m50s, but close to Photon Workshops 25h11m45s.

Looks like I need to play with settings on Photon workshop, or just slice and save the file on Chitubox, then just slice the model in Photon to get the print time.

It is usful to export the whole setup as an .stl, if anything goes wrong with the project file you can create the file again without having to start again on the supports.

If it's light enough I will check on the print in a few hours, otherwise it's fingers crossed until tomorrow.

Mine is worse than that, this is 2 hours into a rerun which I aborted about 5 minutes ago.
I'm starting to think this version of the coach is %$£"$%. The extruded models are now appearing as meshs, and I don't know why.
The run is a complete rebuild from scratch in Chitu. What doesn't show is the skate is surrounded by a thin cured plate the full size of the build plate with various foreign bodies (the hanging bits) hanging off it. When I drain the tank there are a series of thin lines across the width of the plate. When I get the enthuiasm for it, I am going to load the previous version, try to remember what changes I made and start from there to see if than clears it.

Mine basically had anything not stuck to the build plate was stuck to the FEP.

Got to find my torch, so I can safely get to the shed in the dark, as I've not turned auto fill on. I reckon if I reifll up to the max setting on the vat that should be enough to last until the morning - I hope

On your print what was you resin temp ?

    Disaster strikes again.

I did check at about 5 hour mark and appeared ok

Up at silly o'clock to take my daughter into work, about 15 hrs in to the print, Rear print looks like it fell off the build plate, front print the supports seemed to be moving.

Closer inspection and the raft appeared to have delaminated, but it gets worse

While cleaning up I noticed a mark on the screen protector, a very thin piece of cured resin - I managed to remove it - phew, but did see a couple of indentations in the fep

New fep required - will need to be a Monday or Tuesday job.

However, back to basics, as something (probably the fallen print) had managed to damage the fep, my first action was to re-level the build plate.

I will try the non-antialiased version of the print next.
