Well ok, I know it's been a while, but that's life. Things have advanced quite a bit since the last report. I ended up taking the mouldings around the cab off as I made a right pig's ear of it and it looked horrible. The trickiest part of the build was forming the smoke box region. I would recommend annealing the brass wrapper to make it more managable. The chassis build was quite straight forward but fitting the brake gear was fiddly. I would leave the brake shoes off until the levers are soldered then the fitting the shoes with loctite. Fitting plunger pick-ups is also a bit of a nightmare especially when the gears are in place but with patience and a bit of blue air it is possible. I have started the paint job and have decided on green and black and it looks quite nice. Finished the chassis today and fitted the body on and the loco runs a treat.

Here is some pics. Bear in mind there is still a lot of work to do and the painting has some tidying up to do.

The pale green spot will be rectified later.

Nice little loco, and may even be a choice for my gasworks.

Looks good Bittern, the devil is in the detail, so take your time and get it right to your eyes, rule one applies here as well! I like the colour scheme, will she be an industrial, cos the NER used green on their locos, although I think it was more an apple green similar to the LNER.

Keep up the good work, cheers, Pete.

It's an Industrial Pete. A ficticious Cornish Mineral Railway, probably called the East Cornwall Mineral railway. It did actually exist and later became part of the line to Callington (Kelly Bray) and later cut back in the 1960's to Gunnislake. The line to Gunnislake still exists and is in daily use but the bit I want to show became part of the Southern Railway in the 1920's.

It's nearly there. Only the roof to roll, paint and fix on and a couple of paint touchups inside the cab to do, then fit the coupling links, name and number plates.

There was a layout at Doncaster with 2 of them, an early NE goods depot, and they ran superbly without fault, I quite fancy one myself now ;).

They do build up quite nicely Pete. A few pitfalls for the unwary but neverless an interesting project.
