Hi Ron, No, not yet. I still have to do the final connection to the switch 8 and test the turnouts. I may get that done tonight. That depends if my dad is up for a beer or not. It's been a while since we've been out and I can't do the Sunday now when I am driving early on the Monday morning. We'll see. A step closer though. Cheers Toto
Hi Ian, I get there takes a bit time to get going ........ But when I do ........ It's usually worth it. I'll hopefully get my bones back out later. To be decided yet. Thanks for posting. Cheers Toto

Tom You are remembering to ventilate that nice cosy wooden box you've put the switch8 in..... Comming along nicely tho' Paul
Hi Gormo, Onto connecting up the switch 8 and hopefully fitting up the system tomorrow. Just little bits at a time but at least in the right direction. Matt, I missed your post earlier, apologies. I had Tany on earlier who got rid of a lot of the pop ups but there are still more and I think they are re- manifesting themselves already. What a pain. Don't you just love a challenge.
Hi, Good day today in the shed. Switch 8 was wired to the Cobalts and. Feed from the track BUS. System switch on, the three point outputs connected to the switch 8 were programmed with their new " system " decoder addresses. ( 311, 312 & 313 ) these addresses are specific to Highbridge as other " levels " of the numbering system are being used for both Rosebuddy & Breadalbane. Anyway, the new addresses were all tested and work fine. I switch the system on and tried testing the track with a class 08. A bit juttery so the track was given a good going over with a track rubber. Everything now ok. Tried running the loco through the points and it was shorting out on every set. Switched the feeds and polarity wires over on the Cobalts ...... Bingo ....... Everything good as gold. Some further track cleaning done and some extensive testing done with a selection of class 25's, 27's, and 33's. Everything good. The next set of tests will be with wagons. They'll have Kadee's fitted to let me test my magnetic uncoupling out. No video as yet but I'll work on that next weekend and post up. I still have issues with my laptop. I have some photos to post up if the pop ups allow it. Cheers Toto
Yippee,http://www.click well done mate, now get them thar pesky critturs sorted and lets see it working. Pete.
Hi, have managed to get the photo's uploaded so I'll do them first and then I'll maybe get out into the shed again after tea and try a video. As usual, the normal qualifications apply. It wont be Gormovision standards quite yet but at least you'll see something moving. Here we go, First up, the switch 8 all wired up and switched on. next up the panellight springs into action as the NCE power cab is plugged in. Next up the switch 8 goes into programming mode. It was programming output 3 as this photo was taken. You may just see the LED number 3 lit up. Then we go into test run mode with a selection of loco's. First up is one of my favorites, The class 22. and another of the same, and one more, Then I moved on to the Class 08 with sound, ..... ooooo. The sound worked but not the best. I think stay alive will be required here. Next up is a Class 33 ( Heljan ) Glen Loy. Beautiful running loco as are most of the heljans. And again in West Coast Livery as above, and another, This time joined by a Class 27 in Dutch livery, and another, and last one tested was a Class 25 ( Bachmann ) and another, That is all for now but mission accomplished for the time being. I'll maybe be back on later with a Video if possible. failing that at least a blether on where I'm going next. Cheers for now Toto
What can say ..... other than weldone, about time did spring to mind, but hey its Sunday, so I'll stick with WELLDONE !! Paul Attached files
Hi Paul " about time " sounds a bit more appropriate. I'm still deciding what the next step will be. I was thinking of trying to get a bit of shape to the warehouse building or start on the embankment area. the later sounds best I think. Also the concrete bridge bearings as this will let me get the bridges laid in place as well. ( they will be lift out ). decisions decisions. maybe even the ballasting ....... more loco testing ........ Oh ....... test the magnets before the ballasting. geeshhhh .......... never ending. cheers toto
Great effort Toto, Well done old mate!!!!........Success!!!!!... You have also found out that track has to be clean for good electrical conductivity. It takes so little to make a difference to running quality, however regular running of your trains helps to keep the rail tops in good electrical condition...........now there`s a good excuse.......I have to run some trains for track maintenance......I`ll be back in a couple of hours.!!! http://www.click Gormo
Hi Gormo, Track maintenance .... Erm ... Ohhhhh ... Yes ...... Track maintenance. I like it. I'm all over the place deciding the next task. I think it should be the embankment. My reasoning being, I'd like to hang fire with the ballasting until I gave tested the track a bit more and also the magnets for the Kadee's. I can do the embankment at the same time. After the embankment is progressed, the bridge bearings can also go in. ( or maybe the other way around ). Not sure. There may also be some small details to be built into the embankment like the signal box and the surrounding platform etc. The top capping stones to the brick walls can wait until the ballasting is done but the brick piers to cover the wall joins etc will go in before. Some of the above are small builds / tasks but need to get done in the correct order. Geeeeeeesh. A lot to think of. I have my employers annual party weekend this coming weekend. It's being held in Edinburgh this year so luckily, it's on my doorstep but I'll still be very limited to any time available for the shed. Maybe one or two of the smaller tasks. Anyway, the important thing is to do something just to keep things moving along. Cheers for now. http://www.click Toto
Nice to see locos running, even if they are only photographs... Sounds like the serious part of making the railway believable is due, that is the scenery. How far have you got with knocking up some buildings ?? Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary, Haven't started yet but I am about to. There is a scalescene low level warehousing unit that I am looking to bash for the main building and I have a variety of stuff for the workshops on the ground level between the bridges and for the upper level above the bridges. Just need to visualise how that part is going to be done. As you say , time to bring in some realism. Cheers Toto
Good news then that trains are moving always a milestone moment in a model railway. Now there is movement some temporary stops at the end of the tracks needed, to stop any shinys making a trip to the scrap yard.
Good to see trains running Tom, a successful weekend! Well done, just the video to come now!! Cheers Ron
