Finally got the finger out and started to do a little modelling :whatever:

I have 3 of these O gauge kits to build

Toto these maybe ok for you, brake gear is relatively simple.

The parts - well most of them

Now just got to read the instructions - just as well I have 3 of them, I might be able to find one set not thrown away with the packing :avatar:

Ah well back later with an update, think Joe le Taxi duties aqre about to hit

A tip Paul. When you are making them up fit the buffers and couplings to the body ends before adding the solebars and chassis cross pieces. You will find it a lot easier.

Not seen any of these done here yet Paul so I'll be switching your progress. doesn't look like it has the, onerous brake gear. That'll ease the pain a bit. :avatar:

    Thanks guy's, tip duly noted

First up, the tank, I use a piece of steel plate and magnets to hold bits in place.

Then the other two sides and tank filler assembly

The tank now needs painting and transfers applied - but not today.

    Following Bitterns tip

First buffer beam, and yes they are fiddley

Need to get the second one done before I loose the springs :whatever:

    Hi Toto

I started the kit around 9pm last night, and in between chatting to you and being on the forum so maybe a couple of hours of time, but kept stopping to let the glue dry, and suprisingly even read the instructions :avatar:

Next up was assembling the chassis

This was then left over nighr to harden, with a wee bit of weight to help keep it flat

The two hand rails were cut to length (108mm), and stuck in place.

Then onto the W irons and axel boxes.

I had to drill out the axel boxes to get them to kit over the top hat bearings.

The W iron assembly then buts up against the underframe to give the correct axel spacing

3 more to go plus the wheels

Another overnight drying time, before the brake gear.

Looking good so far Paul. How many components does the brake gear consist of as there did not look much in your previous pictures of the kit that you posted.

    Not many bits left

Just brakes and makers plates to go, a fairly straight forward build.

Then of course there's the paint shop. :whatever:

It's the simpler set up. Still very fragile and footery. I detest that part of the build as I always break something ( forgive the pun ).

Looking good though Paul. Looking forward to the paint shop.

Are you keeping the intended livery or have you something of your own in mind ?

Probably Black, whether that be black paint or a covering of tar may be up for debate :avatar:

Sorry Ian, nae progress this evening, hopefully the brakes will come off (the sprue that is) tomorrow :avatar:, other chores required to be done today, I didn't even manage to un-box my latest Fowler, I'm now up to four of them, and saved over £100 each of list price, by just getting in at the right time, and bailing out if the bidding goes too high.

    Back to the brake gear

Quite a bit of cleaning up to remove the flash, and all holes opened up with a drill.
Brake safety hangers were threaded over the brake hoes then both sets of brake shoes and hangers glued in place. The plastic rod was then threaded through the assembly.

Next the V hangers were threaded on to the rod and glued in place

Then the lever and ratchet added to both sides, and rod trimmed to length

    And with the body on

Just got the owners plates to add and then paint.

It's been a nice straight forward and enjoyable build - just got two more to build :whatever:

Looking really good Paul. You might find it a bit easier to replace the plastic rod with brass rod, it will take handling better too.

Looks great Paul and you certainly smashed through the build in no time at all. Looking forward to the finished product.:thumbs::thumbs:

    Cheers, Gary.
