    Pic of the week! Nice one!
    I’ve lived in Melbourne my whole life and used to catch the train regularly as a teenager (Hurstbridge line), Stoney Point always seemed Like it was in another state when you looked on the network maps in the carriages!

    I lived in noble park, and used the Dandenong line as a teenager. Mum and dad used to love coming to Hastings, who knew at the time I'd be living down here.:avatar:

    I just remembered apiece of history Phil. When first introduced, I understand they were fitted with petrol powered motors, therefore were they ever referred to as PERMs? (Some Monday nonsense!)

    The building was way too tall, so I cut off 15mm off the bottom of the building , recut the doors and waiting room. I was originally going to make the building low relief, but decided to make as much of the building as possible with the space available. The original Frankston station had a canopy attached, but I will make this on the island platform. 3 foot rule applies

    Lookin` good Phil,
    It looks like it was quite a substantial old weatherboard building.?
    I think in Sydney in the old days, there were very few that used weatherboard for the main station building, they seemed to use brick here instead, even when you venture up into the Blue Mountains.
    So for me, It`s unique and unusual to see a weatherboard station building, whilst being absolutely appropriate for Victoria.
    I like your thinking about the canopy......I would do the same myself in that situation......it will still have the feel of the old Frankston anyway.

    Hello All, the old wooden Frankston station featured in the 1959 Stanley Kramer film "On the Beach",based on the 1957 book the same title by Neville Shute, who was an English novelist, aeronautical engineer ( with Barnes Walis ) RNVR Lt Cdr, who later emigrated to Australia and lived at Langwarrin. The film not only features Frankston station, but a Blue Harris train at East Richmond, Queen Victoria Hospital on a Sunday, Altona Mobil Oil Refinery, Port Lonsdale foreshore and Phillip Island motor Racetrack.     Today's project was to replace some Atlas points with peco points. The Atlas points have been problematic from the start. They seemed to be out of gauge in the throw, so it was time to remove them. These points are used on the Stony Point station as a run around. Glad I haven't ballasted the track yet, made the job that much easier.

    Fantastic work Philip. The Scalescenes print has come up really nice on the building. :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:


    Must remember that Frankston is approximately 55km from Melbourne, same distance as Campbelltown from Sydney. Rooty Hill, Merrylands, Penshurst and Waverton all boasted and some still do have weatherboard buildings ! ;)

    Been a bit quite on the Stony Point line. Lost my mojo. So been odd jobs around the house. I recently bought a small caravan, and took it to Acheron, Breakaway Twin Rivers caravan park woke up too a knock on the door 5:30am this morning and told too get ready to evacuate, due to river flooding. Now safe and well back home. Should have stayed home and run some trains. :facepalm:

    To think you were getting away for some rest and relaxation, recharge the batteries only to be told you got to go... What a bummer. :faint:

    Everyone goes through the dreaded 'lack of mojo'. It comes, it goes and soon you'll be back into the swing of things. :D

    I bought a LMS diesel shunter sometime ago, because it reminded me of the F class shunters on VR railway. I recently purchased a book called An Australian Locomotive Guide by Peter Clarke. Low and behold, there was a brief story on the F Class vr Locomotive. Turns out they where imported too Australia, from England and Scotland. So I thought I have ago at re painting the Maroon LMS Shunter into VR livery.     I'll leave it as is. Wouldn't trust myself weathering. Light weathering looks OK, if it's done by someone who knows what there doing.

    Not much happening on the Stony Point line, just been running trains and fixing a few problems along the way. I did however pick up this project for $40 Australian. Needs new steps and couple of repairs too the broken body front and back. Biggest problem will be matching the colour. Runs but need a good service.
