Cheers David. Well as you can see I’m attempting to help Paul Hodgson build a representation of shed B, compressed to one loco length with the rear section marked as shed c missing out the offices between them. Paul wants a re fuelling point and a loco wash modelled as well. If you have any pictures that you can share or any help / guidance as the build progresses that would be really appreciated. my first strange question / questions are, why were the second row of windows red? Were they painted on the inside, or were they red panels? Plus did they extend down both sides the full length of the shed? kim
Fantastic work Kimbo love your idea of raising the tracks, your soldering is impressive as well. Regards, Gloria.
Hi If you mean the red panels down the sides of the sheds form a dim memory I seem to recall they were coloured glass panels, I'll have to refresh my memory by looking at pictures as to how far they went down and what was behind them, I'll et you know.
Great pictures David, not seen those before. Thank you for sharing them with us. We have a meet up today at Paul’s so these will be useful to share with the crew. Kim
Hi I've been trawling the internet for pictures but can find hardly any clear ones of the side of the sheds or inside. I did find one on Flikr which has refreshed my memory about the red panels, they ran the length of each shed as far as the centre block where offices, stores and small specialised workshops and staff messroom were located the bottom of the red panels were in line with the floor level of the raised walkway at footplate level.
Cheers David, yes it’s frustrating to find any clear shots of the shed. I do have a couple which I’ve blown up that show red windows on a section of the side wall. I’m on my way to Pauls now so will set up the mock - up and place the pictures I have by it for comparison then post them up here. re the centre office block- I’m sure Paul would have loved to have modelled both shed ends and offices but by my very rough calculations.....he’d need a bigger garage
Here is the mock up in place with the two pictures I mentioned and where we are today with the build. All track work done, wired and head shunt board built with one point added and wired up. Just a few cosmetic sleepers to add. Kim
Again.. Wow - The mock up shed looks great - I cant wait to see the real build. And a Deltic ? Thats some beast!
Hi again, I've been trawling the internet and facebook etc for pictures and have found a few which could be of use but as they're not my pictures I'm a bit sceptical about posting them in case of copyright issues? What does admin think?
As you aren't using them for gain or profit and give recognition to the owners, if known, you shouldn't have any problems. Pete.
Sorry for the delay I've been a bit busy over the weekend. All the pictures I post are not mine and have been found trawling the internet etc, I'm not sure who the photographers are.
