Just out of interest, does all the rolling stock have the same make of knuckle coupler Gary.

    Any problems coupling/uncoupling ?

Ed, all my rolling stock is fitted with Kadees No.5s. No issue with uncoupling.

Here is another wagon I put together today...

More of those fiddly grab irons...

The finished model barring Kadees and weathering...

During the build, I thought I'd save myself some hassles by rubbing back some of the lettering and numerals on the side of the wagon, where the door touches the van sides. You could say this is pre-weathering... :D

Another job I completed today was the installation of a decoder and LEDs into the GP-7...

How I done this can be found here : http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=1877&forum_id=81

Tonight's job after a feed, will be to weather the new stock ready for packing away tomorrow for the exhibition...

    Cheers, Gary.

They are great kits, although all those fiddly grab irons and undercarriage rigging is stressful putting them on/in ! :faint:

Here is a pick of the undercarriage. The red line is where I snapped an air line... :whatever:

To all those people working for Bachmann, Hornby, etc in China, I salute the effort they go to, to put delicate models together, day in, day out ! :tophat:

    Cheers, Gary.

The cab roofs do look quite pink in the photos, but I can assure you that they are not ! ;);)

    Gary

Do you think your weathering techniques would work for relicing guitars? They usually put leave the body out in the elements for six months to get that kind of effect.

Going from new to trashed err extremely weathered in 4 hours.

    Great work

Hi Jaz, apologies for late reply, been out setting the layout up for the exhibition...

In regards to your question on weathering, on the locos it is all powders, no paint whatsoever. Some of my wagons (the boxcars) I have used paint over the roof only.

Here is a link to my weathering techniques : http://www.platform1mrc.com/view_topic.php?id=674&forum_id=15

    Cheers, Gary.

Apologies for late reply Reidy, been catching up with Gormo tonight.

To answer your question, I used aerosol cans (spray paints) from Bunnings !

G'day Gary, Jack's layout looks good. Maybe you could bring him along to the Castle Hill show at the end of the month where Chris Frazer and I will be there with Chris' Half Pint Creek and we could borrow Jack again!!! Look forward to meeting any members who attend, I'm the one with the beard and doing most of the talking:giggle:Norm, aka ebbwjunc.

A few goodies arrived from the good ol' US of A on Thursday...

Three Bowser Woodchip car kits, one Loksound decoder for my RSD4/5 and one Bachmann RS3 with sound.

I do like the livery of the RS3, but I'm thinking of removing the Seaboard logo and cab side roundel and renaming the railway company. The new name will be presented in the cream band along the hood of the loco. What this will be I haven't decided.

The loco sounds great, but doesn't move. I have read in the paperwork that comes with the loco that it is set up for the Bachmann E-Z Command and I have to assign a new address and the directional travel. :whatever: Small price to pay as the loco looks and sounds great.

    Cheers, Gary.

I may be wrong Gary, but assuming it's set up with a default address of 3 (as you've got the sound working) it should move.

Maybe not the direction you want, but that can be changed in CV29.

No movement what so ever Ed. I will reprogram the number and look into the direction. This is what is on the Bachmann paperwork that came with the loco...

    Cheers, Gary.
