Success a lovely Bouch Brake Van, glorious weather in Leeds so 2 outdoor photos before we go out for a walk: Next job a print of the roof, and running gear. Mossy
Forgot to post the above before we went out, so just done it now. I set a print of the running gear going before leaving and came back to a second body print . Someone rolled her eyes and mutter something about a senior moment. Never mind running gear print is now going. Mossy
Thanks Keith, it does look good. It's been a lot of work and a steep learning curve I just hope the running gear works out as good. Andy, I am guessing flipping often gets replaced by something more Anglo-Saxon under different circumstances. Mossy
Paul, Two perhaps, but as it stands one or the other would be running on cloned plates as they both have the same number. I would have to watch out for the Police Interceptors, ooh err vicar not sure I would like that. Mind you there a couple of the lady officers who could intercept me provide erindoors wasn't in the car. Mossy
Ah.... and you now see why Andy and I print the number plates seperately. You always end up with test prints that are just too good to throw away, or is that Scotland rubbing off on me again. On my chassis side for the Passenger tank, I scaled up the sandbox 0.5mm in all directions, located the sandbox in to the correct position, then moved it into the model by 0.25mm and subtracted the sandbox from the chassis. This left a depression in the chassis side to act as a location point. The same would work for number plates as well. Paul
I Like your recessing idea. The reason for the duplicate numbers was my inability to read when setting of a brake parts print, don't click on van body and then hit go! There's another confirmed NER man on here who is welcome to it if he wants, unless you as a confirmed Highland et al man would like a very odd NER Central District brake van?
Actually, your error may be a little more subtle than you think, if you have big fingers - or short stubby ones like mine, it's very easy to double click a print image from the screen rather than scrolling down. The printer will gladly start the print you pressed twice on - don't ask, well you've probably guessed how I know anyway Paul
Your ok.. interceptors has finished (although the crews are currently filming for the next series… my part is very rarely on camera though… more likely to be stopped with your brake van for no tax and insurance though than cloned plates.. section 59 anyone?
I to have succumbed to the dark side a bought a 3D printer (Ender 3 V2) now I am on the learning journey to become a 3d printing dark lord.
ooooo..... the thin end of the wedge, or in our case is that another thin slice Looking forward to seeing the results Paul
Welcome to the journey Graeme, it's fascinating and frustrating and rewarding and ..... A work colleague once used the phrase "my learning curve is vertical", that's how it feels sometime but if you get stuck or need help Paul and Andy are incredibly helpful with their advice and support. Like Paul I look forward to seeing the results. Mossy
Paul, Going back to post 170 how do you "subtracted the sandbox from the chassis" after joining it? Mossy
On the chassis build, it was done in 123D For Fusion, this is the way I would try - go back in the timeline to the step before you joined them together. Create a copy of the item - sandbox, and hide the original, resize the copy, select the rear face and extrude 0.2mm into the chassis with cut selected. That should produce the recess. Now hide all bodies, and make the original part in this case the sandbox visible, and extrude the rear face 0.2mm. Now delete the join step and the two parts will be seperate, so by hiding the sandbox when exporting the file for printing will give the chassis with a recess for the sandbox, or by having the sandbox visible during the export will include the sand box.
