The transfer sheet from Fox Transfers, arrived last week whilst I was away up north, Paul very kindly ordered them up for me as he also needs some for a future project he’s working on , which apparently I’m going to be repainting for him.....go figure !

so off this sheet no. F7300 I’m only going to need 4 small “arrows”, 2 for each model, plus running numbers which I will take from a sheet I bought a while back.
I’ll post up the results as soon as they are done.

Paul has also found me a photo of 7017 at Stratford (strangely enough) so this will be one of my victims to model.

Well before I start the decals, having had a cuppa and a think as one does when they have not modelled for a few days.....I realised that decals was a job for later.......handrails ! Lots of them, 14 per model......out with the pliers and brass rod.

and a little bit of paintwork I’d forgotten about....the side windows and the vents have a silver grey finish to them looking at pictures so I’ve painted them silver as I’m sure when the model is weathered it will still show up. Also I’ve spotted that the front buffer beam is in fact black on 7017, some of the other models show the buffer beam as BR blue, which is how I painted them, easy job to do with some black acrylic and a brush.

so one side on each model done, I’ll let them dry over night and then complete the other side tomorrow. :tophat:

As an aside Kim and from memories of seeing Hymeks at Portsmouth and Southsea station the side window frames were aluminium which became somewhat tarnished with yellowish staining around the fixing screws. The four car 310 emu's on the New St - Picc service via Stoke had the same issues around the window frames... if that is of any help the other thing I recall was the D number on Hymeks in blue was painted out and the numbers were raised aluminium type the font of which was a squared looking block... I think you can get them from Severn Mill Nameplates but he may take an age to post out to Oz as stuff I order from him takes about three weeks to arrive.

Couldn't Mr S Senior shed some light on its whereabouts... if you do happen to find it with a lot of butchery it will make a good upgrade project.

An old feller from Chesterfield model engineering society called Arthur Gooding way back in the mid/late 90's sold me one he'd super detailed and re-motored from scratch, he'd even made his own wheels and axles, running in home made ptfe bearings. It was painted in two tone green. An amazing smooth runner, twin motors with huge brass fly wheels. It would knock a wall down it was so powerful! Like a fool as usual I sold it on as I was more interested in LNER modelling at the time .

I think the star was from school. This would be the early 1980’s. Sadly, I think at least one coach broke and I’m
Sure the loco stopped as a battery corroded the contacts. I think it’s went around 1985 in the bin! :(

Not to worry Andy I have an exact same as yet unmodified one here... you can have that one if you wish, no coaches tho as they are complete cut and shut jobs and a pile of work:avatar:.

Decals, head codes and head code glazing next. So here I give you 7016 and 7017

yellow bits need touching in now and I’ve also got to sort out the lamp surrounds which seem to be missing from the kit.

Yellow touched up and I’ve fitted some mesh to the roof opening. So fuel tanks next, these can be screwed back onto the bodies once the paint has dried off and then I think I’m ready to attach the bogies ......

    Kim

Cheers Paul, they are what they are I’m afraid, close inspection shows up all the errors, but I hope once weathered and running on a layout with the 3ft rule applied, they will be acceptable.
