Thanks Tom, I'll hang on before visiting Homebase then Still using the goods shed line Gary, although the shed needs re-roofing due to dampness!!
Hi Ron Looking arroung Homebase arn't too bad - works out approx £2.50 per meter found this place if you buy 2m lengths is approx £2.00 per meter, but there are postage costs to bear in mind. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-Extruded-Angle-Various-Sizes-Thickness-2-6-mm-500mm-5000mm-LONNG-/252489487895?var=&hash=item3ac98bd617:m:mJKAmv9VdJYSemwfQEZQDPA Now a traverser on the other hand, with full DCC control ..... and the fun of building it yourself Toto is reaching for the extra stength pain killers Paul
No worries . The big DIY places are good for what they stock but boy do you pay a premium. Cheers Toto
Not only that, the local Homebase has 17 in stock!! I'll do some planning and measuring over the weekend, shed is out of bounds till Sunday!! I must get on with doing the legs and finish up the wiring to the house!! Merry Christmas Ron PS A photo of the run round/crossing at Sheringham which i hope to model on Sheringbourne.
The building to the left and the signal box looks to be in excellent order, very nicely presented. Cheers, Gary.
Managed a few minutes out in the shed this afternoon, got the new baseboard painted/sealed, a prototype cassette from some old 25mm length of angle ally and checked the whisky stock!! Cheers Ron
G`day Ron, I like that little crossing at the real Sheringbourne.....it`s just so neat!!!!. The 25mm angle looks right!!!....you need some room either side of the rolling stock just in case they derail or whatever and 25mm allows you to get fingers in there. It also makes them easier to assemble if you are drilling through so that they can be screwed down. The cassettes are a bit of a task to make, however the flexibility they give you and the ease with which you can move stock around more than compensates. I look forward to your progress. http://www.clickGormo
Decided to use 15mm angle ally, I thought about the 25mm but thinking on, 2x25mmx1.2m plus MDF plus stock and a loco maybe is going to weigh quite a bit!! At least the 15mm is a lot lighter!! I'm going to use the 25mm angle as a guide for the cassettes if I can? Will do some testing!! Ron
A busy afternoon, finished the trackwork, fitted and tested a point motor and biggest of all I have fitted the legs to the baseboard. It was tricky working the angles out but the board is fastened to the wall so it isn't going anywhere!! Cheers Ron
Still a lot to do but I feel a sense of achievement already! Looking forward to real progress in 2017 Cheers Ron
Nice video Ron and same with the sound. Can we have some of the cassette and the fittings etc to see what you have done to tie it in ? Cheers Toto
