The biggest problem I have had with Lima stock is the shorter wheel axels, making fitting replacements a pain. Must get one of these cutting tools

    Hi Paul/Keith I tried a straight wheel swap on my Triang coach (1950's 7" green) but unfortunately the new Hornby wheel sets are;
    a. loose in their frames (tophat bearing cups should fix that)
    b. larger diameter and catching on the plasric underframe. (so will remove complete frames and file some plastic off)
You'll notice the technical terms are lacking so photos coming as I rectify the situation ...

Ok having been persuaded to update my only coach ... '1950's Triang 7" green' ... I'll start a new thread on this in the 'how to section'. These are my intentions; a. replace old wheelsets with modern Hornby ones
    b. Highlight door handles/grabrails etc as suggested.
    c. change couplers to Bachman smaiier ones with uncoupler wire soldered on.
    d. Generally tidy up the look of the coach but ... no interior (with my eyes not worth the effort ... yet)
    The culprit

Just a thought Ian, but Bachmann replacement bogies might be an easier option.

Both Gary and I have used these on old Triang coaches.

Cheers Ed I'll keep them in mind but with postage it wouldnt really be worth the expense on this job. However I' ve got a load of good condition Triang celesterys and I reckon theywould be perfect for those so I' m saving the link.
    Cheers Ian vt

Hi Paul, I think Alan Gibson sells replacement wheel sets for Lima rolling stock of the correct axle length.

    Ay what??????

Each time I look in Ian, it`s all changed......what the ????.....but I must say whatever you`re doing is coming along very quickly and very nicely.......a tasty bit of modelling.

By the way I priced those Bachmann bogies locally approx. 1 1/2 weeks ago at $23.00 a set. After seeing the link to Hattons, I thought our local price was a bit rich to say the least.!!!

Thanks Gormo everything seems to be ad lib at the moment but it should slow down somewhat once the arches are glued in place. Then I can sort out the upper level track for some prolonged testing prior to tackling the lower build. I've got some tophat bearing on their way for the celesterys but at those prices I could get some second hand hornby coaches.

Gormo, I think it depends on the colour of the tinto, so Ian I think we need the name of the liquid inspiration, along with the photo's so we can try and plot a pattern.

    Great build Ian

These connectors arrived today so once the main track goes down the wiring should be relativaly easy ...

These look handy Ian. Same kind of connectors that the Cobalts use I think. Easy to use.

    Good stuff
