In real life a Britannia Pacific probably never traversed the NSR Wheelock Sandbach branch but if it had it would have looked something like this... in very poor light so please accept apologies but these pictures really are just to show progress, 70010 Owen Glendower passes through the gates at Elton heading towards Sandbach Yard.

And in the background on the coal siding is the waiting shelter for leek station.

And showing the completed motion on the other side... oh dear another shelf queen lurks on the shelf :avatar: So now once I've fitted the lubricator rods on both sides tomorrow it will just be a matter of completing the lining and decor then flat varnishing... then glazing and backhead fitted later this week

So today I managed a few hours on the bench and this afternoon saw the valve motion completed with lubricator linkages and even a scratch made rotary handle for the oil pump... I didn't scratch make an oil pump just the external handle from some thin etch filed, drilled and bent to shape. I also added extra pipework again scratched from 0.7mm nickel wire with tiny tabs made from more thin scrap etch. Even managed to fit the speedo odometer with linkage onto a crank bent to the correct offset angle.

On the other side the servo pump to assist making turning the reversing shaft easier was added... I'm still kicking myself over the fusible plug mistake, well nothing I can do about that now but a lesson learnt for next time.

Next job now for a finish is to do the transfers on this side and lining out.

So nearly there chaps and I'll crack this one off this week for a finish and all that remains will be to make a nice wooden carry case for it to live in.

why not build yourself a really good Super Real scenic diorama... you could base it on one of the larger town size Churnet Valley stations such as Leek maybe ?

Well I think bar for completion of glazing and adding the footplate valance single orange lining and the backhead this kit is pretty much over the line now, once the seal coat of satin varnish has dried I'll fit the valance lining then give a final coat of varnish and fit the glazing... that won't be today tho. For me this has been an enjoyable build, its had its ups and downs but in the end it all came good and I progressed further with this loco than I'd ever originally intended, so that is a big bonus, anyway the most important think is I've learnt a lot from bringing Owen Glendower from a box full of part finished bits to a complete main line engine capable of fast running with a long train... or so I'm told by Brian at ABC Gears. That's another great plus for what became an unexpected outcome was the fitting of a helical gearbox with motor unit which I shall most likely install on other large engines I build, finally a lot of scratch build additions were made much being very tiny parts and the challenge of that is paying dividends I think. So folks here is Scorpio Seven Models Britannia Pacific 70010 Owen Glendower for your perusal.

A close up of the cylinder and valve arrangement showing the various scratch additions fitted, the oil box on the slide bars, the square flanges fitted over the 2.5mm copper pipe of the top feed water pipe and the various different plumbing pipes particularly the feeds from the Silvertown mechanical lubricators.

And lurking on the sideline is 75030 another long term shelf queen, I've already started assembling the valve motion for this loco... so the best thing that I take from this challenge is a new found enthusiasm for completing many of my loco builds... lets see how many more of these I can get over the line.

    Looks very good.
I rarely get the chance to build BR standards. But I do like them.

That looks excellent. There is something particularly satisfying when you get to this stage with a project especially when it has taken a while to complete.

Detailed the backhead casting this evening so it will be fixed later today, glazing now done and canopy glue drying so that's another job done. Cab interior to be painted in bauxite and the reverser fitted next.
