Well I've been back on with the Class 24 bogie build this evening in the new workshop...Toto will be happy :) because I know he's eager to see a completed bogie set, for that matter so do I ... no photos taken at the minute but I'll do one or two tomorrow. The place still smells of fresh paint ! Anyway the other three frame sides have been put together so far, then to dress them with the fine details.:D

An interesting aspect I didn't quite realise the impact it would have is how bright the mag lamp works against a totally white bench. Make working here a pleasure.

And here are those Cannon 1833's I bought from ebay... I was a bit suprised at how short the drive shaft actually is :scratchchin: it will just about grip inside a worm gear. Anyway I'll give them a spin and if they give issues I'll swap them out for Taff Vale ones which have longer drive shafts.

All looking very good on the new bench. It has a very efficient feel about it. Everything can be placed at hand and easy to find.

Apparently they will be ready for delivery on the 21st, the firm are on Blackmoorfoot Road Huddersfield and their prices balanced against delivery time / quality / fixtures was the most competitive I felt. I've got a 236cm long x 100cm drop recess blind for £47 including all fixing furniture.:D

... this will be a shared "art" space Timbersurf so SWMBO has a stake in it too. The building was at one time a white space artist studio so in many ways that's where its going again but with me doing kits on the bench. Even more reason for me to maintain "tidy space" rules :avatar:

The main reason for this is the building faces South and gets full on strong sunlight for most of the day, so reducing glare is important, the other reason is privacy. Believe it or not I've lost count the times total strangers have wandered round the yard photographing the bus... they seem to think because there's a vintage vehicle parked in the yard with a wide gate entrance that its a public space where they can just walk in and wander round, our garden is just to the side of this. Now what makes it worse is that you can then carry on to the front drive and out onto the main street as a type of short cut, we have in the past had walkers and cyclists thinking they can cut out the corner when coming up the lane. Thus are the foibles of living in a little village at times it's nearly as bad as living in Robin Hood's Bay:avatar:.

Just reminded of a poster - a clean desk is the sign of a sick mind, I must be one of the sanest people on the planet :avatar:

I've put these photo's on the black list - if SWMBO see's them I'll be spending the next few months emptying, the man cave, the kids bedrooms and the shed, are you aware of the potential damage photo's of a clean workspace can cause :whatever:

    Looks good tho' :tophat:

Oops I seem to have inadvertently caused controversy on the forum :scratchchin: so I'd like to offer everyone my sincere apologies if any distress which this thread has caused, yes indeed Dundee such order can create immense damage amongst the wrong audience. However my efforts to relocate hobby activities was driven by a desire for order from SWMBO , sadly her new world vision didn't quite stretch to match funding the financial cost involved. :avatar::avatar::avatar:

Anyway after a massive workshop / storage reorganization in which a suitable section of wall space has been made for SWMBO this afternoon I decided to see how the Proxxon dividing head worked, so here with the blessing of SWMBO (who is very happy with her art space) I spent the early evening doing this...

The dividing head set up on the combination table at the correct setting, the wheelsets scribed with a radius marking for the drill centres and away we went.

It literally took only minutes to drill out one side. :D

The drilled wheelset back on the bogie.

And just to see how it will look I've placed the frame side against the bogie... now on with the other wheels tomorrow but now I'm off down the pub... cheers chaps.
