Hi Paul, I ran my Terrier on a standard TCS Decoder, no problems at all, lovely smooth slow running. It's now fitted with a Zimo sound decoder from YouChoo,s again runs extremely well and the sound file is very good. The install for sound is also very straight forward, unlike the Fowler that's just arrived.

Looking forward to seeing your progress on the "dark side"

Well the wee fella has been enticed out of his kennel, and a safe place it was too, the now usual wrap round plastic cover with a slip over sleeve, packed in a sturdy foam lined box.

Will definately need a crew, and a decoder - will see how the boss likes the new fella to see if we can maybe get him to bark - at the moment he's a bit timid and doesn't say a lot. :avatar:

Oh no, what's the world coming to ?? A Southern loco on Scottish rails !! Yes I know, it's in the BR guise...

Actually, it's a beautiful choice of locomotive and it's great to see that you have seen the light, I mean the Southern Light !

I have been tempted to purchase a Terrier as well, as Dapol has produced a beautiful model, but then again, the 08 will be out soon and for the same price, perfect for an O gauge Inglenook !
Better start saving, or just pinch Jack's pocket money ! data:image/png;base64,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

Hey...... Your being watched. My pal Jack will soon let me know if there is any funny business or sudden loss of weight with his savings bank. .......... So just watch it.

I have a pre order emailed to tower models for an 08 in BR green with wasps and one in BR black. Only one more to complete the O gauge fleet and that will be a class 25 ....... Maybe a terrier in BR black with late crest.

Should never have allowed myself to be drawn into this

Hi Gary I think the competition rules said if the scale was different to OO then we could size the plank incrementally to the scale will have to check back at the rules
If it's right all this can fit in 8ft for Paul, but Toto isn't allowed to enter the competition by his rules, but I can't see why he can't join in and build an O scale plank as well. Just to show how it's done.
Or start on a module with the aim of joining with Pauls module and having a bit of fun sending train's back and fourth.

But the best thing is we now know that they are both easly lead astray
Paul a soft touch even takes home stray Terrier Dogs and well Toto a sucker for Shiny things. :avatar::avatar::avatar:

Yes Chris, very true. I was just mocking Toto and his new toys !! :avatar:
Although can you imagine, a Terrier, an 08, a Class 25, several open wagons all on 4' !!

    Cheers, Gary.

    What about a wagon works
No points just a traverser, some wagon turntables etc

I can see a joint project with a 16ft plus modular layout in a year or 2's time:handshake:

Hi Paul, I've just done a little video clip of my Terrier with YouChoos sound decoder (Zimo), installed by me with a cube speaker. I will post it on my LSD post.

I'll have a swatch at that Kimbo.

I've got a bid in for a terrier on fleabay. It's missing a brake shoe and has had a re spray. We'll see what comes of my offer.

I had been looking at a pug ( new ) but it was described as coarse scale. What can you tell me about o gauge coarse scale ?

    Cheers

    Toto

Cheers guys, I will check out the video as well, I'll leave it on loop, just to let the boss know the we fella would sound like when he learns to bark :avatar:

Gary - danger of using Jacks funds is he may decide that your helping him to become another member of the rubber gaugers guild, and Chris is actively recruiting :avatar:

Seen my class 26 on eBay ( rails of Sheffield ) ouch ! Looks like they have snapped up what was left at tower models and added £75.00 onto the price.

But I've not bitten ....... Nope ....... Or at least until I see if my offer for the Terrier has been accepted.:avatar:

I'll know in the next 36 hours or so.

    Re the coarse scale pug,
Toto there are a few models on the market at the moment that conform to the coarse scale standards
The main issue is the wheel standards are coarse some of the models have very nice body work a lot are made from pressed metal so not as crisp detail etc a good comparison is a old triang model with bug chunky wheels and flanges as compared to a new Bachmann with nice fine wheels and flanges similar the Triang loco won't run well through Current peco points with fine flange ways the same would occur with the C/S Pug trying to run on Peco O Gauge track.

Photo close up of the Pug wheels and motion showing the larger wheels and flanges

Chris, do you recon these wheels could be exchanged or modified on a lathe?

Don't own one Kim so can't say if you could do a direct replacement with Slaters as can't measure the axles for you.
May come down to the Axl size but a set of bearings may fix that.
I'm sure the wheels could be reprofile as long as they are not of a material that is suitable to be turned.

Or the other option is a Springside Pug kit makes a nice model very heavy as lots of white metal will pull a huge train.

I think the back to back is a bit different in coarse scale as well, as the fine scale locos won't run properly on coarse scale track but both will run on Peco. As someone has already said, it's the difference between the old Triang steam-roller wheels against the newer 'thin' wheels. I think Slaters do a set of wheels for the L&Y Pug anyway, as I'm sure they were the type that Springside packed in the kits of same.

So if I need to be distracted from the building builds on Viccy Road, it will probably be here.
