Now have enough open wagons for the moment - 5, 3 x 7 plank and 2 x 8 plank, so will concentrate on Box vans and specials (cattle, tankers, brake van etc). But not for a while - need to avoid distractions ........ Paul
The next purchase for me will be a couple of general purpose box vans. Plenty opens, cattle wagons x 2, fruit van, ale wagon, brake van two loco coal wagons, loco tender wagon, tender wagon and two low macs. ......... And I was only doing an inglenook. Cheers Toto
They arrived today - boy was that quick. 2 x 8 plank wagons - unfortunately with the same number, but that will rectified. and 1 weathered 7 plank group piccy Paul
Our numbers are up. ........ Paul and I are a communist team. What I have he has and what he has ........... He has. Just joking. We're sorted for our O gauge inglenooks. Just me to buy a couple of general purpose vans. They look good Paul. Cheers A slightly inebriated toto. Hic
Delivery today from Dapol - August's special offer Two of the above - I know I have the weathered version with the same wagon number, but £24 a pop I couldn't resist - Toto is starting to rub off on me, better take the tablets. Paul
The mancave's has been repossed by the Guvnor - My mum is comming up for christmas, and can't make it up the stairs on her own, so the mancave is to become a downstairs bedroom. Victoria Road has been consigned to the shed - it already was there after the Elgin show, and temporary planning permission was being worked on for an O gauge layout ...... permission temporarily on hold, may get to move upstairs, which would be a smaller space, and would need the layout to be considerably lighter, if is ever going on tour. All the carpet tiles have been lifted and foam insulation underlay laid, then the carpet tiles refitted / replaced as required. New bed ordered - arrives Tuesday - SWMBO's birthday, note to self must get card, pressie has already been taken care of Still got the PC(s) and printers to move. So to help the stress, trying some Toto retail therapy 2 of Dapol 8 plank Baldwin coal / coke wagons, down from £45 to £30 each, http://dapol.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=2368 and 2 of Slaters Charls Roberts 10T rectangular tanks https://slatersplastikard.com/linePage.php?code=7039 Now just have to find somewhere to build them Paul
Nice wagons Paul. Unfortunately, I am on a self imposed shinnie ban. I may have to watch my dosh for the next month or so. I won't go into detail yet but all will become apparent. I am awaiting the Dapol box vans to come out. Meant to be November but didn't happen. I'll hang on.
I've gone for the coke and tar wagons, as my O gauge project will be a series of modules to make a gas works (or at least parts of a gas works). Found an interesting article giving the following bits of info ... For every 100 tons of coal used by the gas works You get as by products 64 Tons of coke 6 - 7 Tons of Tar 1 Ton of Benzol 2 -3 Tons Ammonical Liquor Hence the start of the wagon purchases. Paul
Very nice. I saw the Baldwins on Dapols site. The tar wagons look the biz. Now you did say that you were looking for a kit or two to build over Xmas ........... Problem solved.
Nice looking wagons there Paul the coke wagons will go nice with the gas works theme of the layout. And the tar tanks make into nice models that are great to weather.
Build and weather them, don't remember Toto mentioning that as part of retail therapy, I just thought you put the box on to shelves Looking forward to getting some modelling done Paul
