As my printer aint working I can,t download and print the kits, but I have seen them blown up to O scale and if there were any imperfections they would show up in that size and they looked very good to me, as they are photographically produced images they look textured from normal viewing distances, so its a from me! Cheers, Pete.
Bit more progress today, but most of which can't be seen Varnish dry, so I could now fit the glazing, and then start on the loading bays and upper platform. Couple using flash to show the insides The upper platform is all white so looks like a white cat in a snowstorm, will post a picture once the concrete paper is installed. Paul
Concrete on, and brick platform wall applied to 3 layers of 5mm foam board. Need to apply a woodern edge to the platform - more stained coffee stirrers, then all the buttresses to the rear wall. Question, would the track be ballasted or have stone sets ? Paul
I would in-lay the track with some pavers/stone or even a strip of stretcherbond brickwork from your Scalescenes kit. The section between the rails would be slightly dished as a drain and the outsides of each rail would taper back to the exterior wall and platform wall, with drains. Cheers, Gary.
Cheers Thanks Gary, I have the dock side kit that has stretcherbond pavers, and some edging stones. Ah well off to work Paul
Looking really good mate Gary's suggestion sounds right for the inside floor as well http://www.click Cheers Matt
Yep, an ex P4 van, twill be kadee's on this layout. All my pre group wagon have Jackson couplings. But thats another storey. Paul
Years ago a group of us O gaugers decided to build a layout based on North Eastern practice, as it was a freight dominant area we decided on auto uncoupling using Alex Jackson couplings I converted quite a lot of my stock, then we had a fall out and it came to nothing, I still have all the jigs and what have you to make them, but I did find them fiddly to set up properly, thats why I have gone for Spratt and Winkles this time. Pete.
Hi Pete, high maintenance is how I would describe them, but when setup correctly gave a very pleasing experience, no kadee shuffle Paul
Some work completed this weekend - track given an undercoat of acrylic paint - just brush painted on. Now onto the rear wall - buttresses Each one is made over long to allow for alignment of the brick courses, then trimmed to size. Next up plinths and ledges finally looks like so The gutters or rones were made up from 180 gsm paper (off cuts from the other print outs) 1 piece wrapped over the other giving 3 layers. The top surface couloured dark grey / black, the lower surface blue. Just got to wait for it to dry so I can get the nerve up to start glueing walls inplace. Paul
Looking the biz Paul. Can't wait to see it in one piece and with the track work in place etc. Cheers Toto
Impressive work Paul. Will the roof be removable so that you can clean the rails, or will the whole building be removable ?? Cheers, Gary.
Hi Gary, Not sure yet, although, no loco should actually entervthe shed, so that maybe my excuse. Paul
Not much achieved today, as the boss and I went to see Star Wars before it dissapears from the cinema. Dry fitted the walls, I apollogise for the shadow but my hand was in the way leaning accross the base board. Drain pipes will cover the join Paul
