Well got a visit from the flounder - reckons I need a prod to get some work done, he's probably correct.

    Job for the day

Low relief buildings at the rear of the layout.

These will be based on the Scalescene Low Relief High Street shop rears.

    Production line arranged for parts

All paper stuck on to the Heavy (2mm) Medium (1mm) and light card (double thickness 180gsm).

And assembly of the carcasses commenced.

Thanks to Ianvolvo for reminding me about a steel jig I bought years ago

Good days work, where we both made a pair of single and double carcasses each.

Toto has managed to avoid doing his home work by leaving his cutting mat here.

    Cheers Guys

At first I thought the Landie was the wrong scale, then I placed it in front of the office door and thought wow that building is big - or words to that effect :avatar:.

Kimbo - don't know if the local craft shop stocks enough card to model that in O.

We'll see how the flounder gets on with his homework - he assures me he has a second cutting mat, so no excusses ........

We both have two single and two double units - although I have modified one of my single (right hand building in photo) to make a custom building - more to follow.

I also use these carcasses to make my tennement buildings using two carcasses back to back with a spacer to suit the end wall.

Do you ever get fed up doing brickwork/buildings Paul.

I've lost count of how many brick walls I built and scrapped and I still have two 3ft walls on a shelf, no longer required.

I beginning to realise why people model a countryside scene with a few grass embankments and trees, instead of something more urban.

Buildings do look good though, even if some are a tad big

    Hi Ed

That very nice Mr Wiffen has a lot to answer for :whatever:.

I was definately of the less is more camp regarding buildings - the last layout I started was a Highland railway halt, with a building requirement of a goods shed, bus stop passenger building and that was it.
On my return to the hobby, I stumbled across the Scalescene advert, tried the free Low Relief Ware house and was hooked, sudden rush of blood to the head and an inner city layout was decided on.
Next time I'm planning a layout, I'm not invited to the idea's meeting :giggle:

At least I dont have to paint each brick

Is that a bit of collusion I see between the flounder and a modern tator? ... something fishy and chippy about that!

I was simply showing Paul how it should be done ........ I think not.

I am considering some kind of bespoke build for my warehouse building on Highbridge. I think Paul has demonstrated with his latest monster build on Victoria Road just what can be done ....... And probably more besides.

I've seen it in the flesh and the pictures don't do it justice. Much better when seen Insitu and with the surrounding areas to back it up.

It's got the old grey matter going.

    Cheers

    Toto

Nice double act boys  seeing progress after a work session is very satisfying

It's also "Great" to see Toto enjoying some modelling time
Looking forward to seeing these buildings coming together.

Paul the big building looks really impressive it dose make the Landy look small but gives a perspective of the scale of the building
    Very nice :worship:

Hi Chris. I had a great day and as always, picked up a few tips from the messiah:worship:

I need to look through what I have in terms of building papers and industrial kits from Scalescenes and maybe buy one or two others.

The space I have on Highbridge is a bit of an awkward corner site which is at an angle and up against the back scene ( which has still to be decided yet ). So , there are a few challenges to be confronted with it but that's part of the fun.
I am slowly getting back around to what it's all about again........ And .......... Have started enjoying it again.

I was out replenishing my supply of working suits as the ones I have been wearing are getting past their best. 2 suits, 5 shirts 4 new ties, new socks, new watch, spent a fortune so now I need to clear out my wardrobe of the older stuff.
Once I've done that, I will try and get into the shed to take a few critical sizes from Highbridge to start playing around with the concept building for Highbridge.

I need to look out my A4 cutting Matt for taking away next week to progress the tenements for Victoria a Road. ( bought 2 packs of 5 print sticks today, I reckon I'll be needing them ) and also take a few shots of the R & GLR with some loco's posed.

Unfortunately there is no scenics or buildings etc on the R & GLR yet as it is nowhere near ready for that yet but I gave been requested to try and post something worth viewing for it. You never know, even my humble efforts could one day make picture of the week. I don't think anyone should feel to threatened by that somehow.:avatar:

    Cheers for now

Apologies for drifting on vicky road Paul.

    Toto

I think we both needed a break, and get back and do some modelling.

So this morning I started on the foreground buildings. Tis will be a mash-up of the Scalescene TO21 Large corner shops, TO20 Large terraced houses and TO05 Low Relief High Street kits.

    Corner shop to corner shop.

You can't stop Paul Chris. Just seems to eat this up ......... When given peace to do it. :avatar:

As I said, more time to be devoted to what counts now. My modelling interest / ambition ...... Call it what you will has been revitalised a bit. These Scalescene kits really come into their own once you see how the go together and are very robust.

Some interesting builds on the way I think.

    Cheers

A top up of some supplies ...... more pritt sticks and some filing sticks and a set square to join the arsenal of knives and glue in my travelling kit box. ...... Lets see how far I get then.

I'll not be stuck for thinks to do now.
